Thinking Through Tapestry invites artists to submit work exploring discontinuous weft-faced woven processes rooted in tapestry techniques such as wedge weave, pulled tapestry, the use of hachures, or other structures such as H.V. (Handarbetets Vänner also known as Theo Moorman technique). The American Tapestry Alliance is an international organization dedicated to promoting tapestry as an art form. In addition to organizing exhibitions featuring contemporary tapestry weavers, ATA provides educational support through a variety of educational programming that includes workshops and lectures. ATA also supports emerging artists through various awards and educational scholarships.
